TINTA DE TORO
Its ampelographic characteristics are very similar to those of the Tempranillo or Tinto Fino, but since it has been located in the area for several centuries, it has a name and personality of its own, making it different from its peers. They must contain at least 75% grapes of this variety.

GARNACHA TINTA
Made with the Garnacha Tinta variety, known as the Tinto Aragonés or Tinto Navarro, a grape that has been in the area for centuries and accompanied the people who repopulated Toro from Aragón in the late 15th century after the War of the Castilian Succession. These wines must contain at least 85% grapes of this variety.

In both cases, the wines may be categorised as joven and tinto roble, and their ageing processes are regulated as follows.
Tinta de Toro / Garnacha Tinta
JOVEN
Eyes
Bright cherry red with layered purple tones at the rim.
Nose
Primary: red fruits, blackberries, currants and sloes, also lactic aromas.
Mouth
Fleshy, sweet tannins, unctuous on the palate and a long finish.

TINTO ROBLE
References to aged or matured under “Roble” respond to consumer demand, where the winery adapts the wine’s profile to a mixed barrel and bottle ageing process under rigorous monitoring and control by the Designation of Origin.
Eyes
Intense vermillion red. Violet tones at the rim.
Nose
Candied red fruit compote, with sweet spices and a toasted base.
Mouth
Overall density and fast sensation, with a fresh, fruity and fragrant finish.
Tinta de Toro / Garnacha Tinta
CRIANZA
The wine must be at least two calendar years old, in which it will have spent at least six months in an oak barrel with a maximum capacity of 330 litres.
Eyes
Intense vermillion red. Violet tones at the rim.
Nose
Candied red fruit compote, with sweet spices and a toasted base.
Mouth
Overall density and fast sensation, with a fresh, fruity and fragrant finish.
Tinta de Toro / Garnacha Tinta
RESERVA
The wine must be at least two calendar years old, where it will undergo a mixed ageing process in oak barrels and in the bottle. The minimum ageing period is 36 months, in which it must have spent at least 12 months in oak barrels with a maximum capacity of 330 litres, having been in the bottle for the rest of this period.
Eyes
Ruby red heart, red and iodised tones at the rim.
Nose
Tertiary: weathered wood, leather, fallen leaves, dried citrus peel.
Mouth
Refined tannins, creaminess and medicinal finish.
Tinta de Toro / Garnacha Tinta
GRAN RESERVA
The wine must be at least five calendar years old, in which it will undergo a mixed ageing process in oak barrels and in the bottle. A minimum period of 18 months is established during which the wine will remain in oak barrels.
Eyes
Smooth feel, compact volume, long in the mouth with a fragrant, spicy finish.
Nose
Tertiary, balsamic oils, medicinal, reduced fats, cocoa and liquorice.
Mouth
Refined tannins, creaminess and medicinal finish.
